The statue dedication is the result of local Hungarian Americans pushing for recognition of the uprising, and county officials' desire to create monuments to freedom… Commissioner Fred Coyle, a leading advocate of turning the complex into a freedom park, has said he wants "to challenge people into thinking in concrete terms about what freedom means to them." Collier County Commissioners (which includes two Hungarian-American Donna Fiala and Frank Halas), Honor Guards from the US Marines, Coast Guard, NYPD, and County Sheriff joined the Hungarian American Community in this historic event for the County.

AHF is proud to have been a "Patriot of Freedom" sponsor and extends its congratulations to all those who cooperated on the important project to ensure that 1956 is not forgotten. [read entire article] on Naples Daily News.
